Sling Manufacturing:

All wire rope slings are manufactured in house on Usha-Ismal make hydraulic splicing machine. The individual slings are tested on hydraulically operated proof load testing machine before issuing Test Certificate. We manufacture slings from 1.5 to 52 mm wire rope diameter.
Inspection By End user before use: every day, before use, all slings are to be inspected for any damage, wear and tear by a competent person. If service conditions are severe, additional inspection during operation shall also to be provided. Damaged, worn-out, defective slings should be immediately removed from the service.

 

Rejection Criterion for slings: (As Per ASM E B30.9):

Excessive broken wires.
Severe localized abrasion, bird cage failure, kinked patches or crushing.
Swollen rope, core is easily seen from outside.
Excess corrosion of rope or end fittings/ joints.

 

# Maintenance, Storage of slings:

Field Lubrication, Although every rope sling is lubricated during manufacture, to lengthen its useful service life it must also be lubricated "in the field." There is no set rule on how much or how often this should be done. It depends on the conditions under which the sling is used. The heavier the loads, the greater the number of bends, or the more adverse the conditions under which the sling operates, the more frequently lubrication will be required.
Storage. Wire rope slings should be stored in a well ventilated, dry building or shed. Never store them on the ground or allow them to be continuously exposed to the elements because this will make them vulnerable to corrosion and rust. And, if it is necessary to store wire rope slings outside, make sure that they are set off the ground and protected.

 

Safety Practices:

1. Slings those are damaged or defective shall not be used.

2. Sling legs shall not be kinked.

3. Slings shall not be shortened with knots or any non standard devices like bolts, pins etc.

4. Slings shall not be loaded beyond their rated safe working load limits.

5. Basket hitches shall be used only in case of balanced loads in order to avoid slippage and an accident thereof.

6. Slings shall be provided with suitable padding / corner protection device to protect them from sharp edges.

7. Strictly avoid shock loading of slings.

8. Any sling shall not be pulled from under a load, when the load is rested over the sling.
